During the week of The Open, the Tall Ships Regatta will take place in Liverpool, which will further increase the heavy volume of traffic expected in the area. To avoid delays travelling to the course, Merseyside Police advise you to follow the yellow 'Open' signs provided by the AA. For those using satellite navigation systems, the postcode of Royal Birkdale is PR8 2LX.

From the North - Follow M6, exit at junction 29, Leyland, to the A582, A59 and A565
From the East - Follow M62, M57 and A5147
From Central Lancashire - Follow M58, exit at junction 3, Rainford, to the A570
From the South - Follow M6, exit at junction 26, Orrell, to M58, exit at junction 3, Rainford, to A570
From Wales and the Wirral - Follow M56, M6, exit at junction 26, Orrell, to M58, exit at junction 3, Rainford, to A570.
Please note that there are no public car parks adjacent to the course. If you do not have a reserved car park label, please use the Park and Ride facilities which will be clearly signposted as you approach Birkdale. Please contact the Open Ticket Office for enquiries about disabled car parking facilities.

By Rail

Merseyrail's Hillside Station is just 2 minutes from the course, with regular trains from both Liverpool and Southport. Merseyrail will provide additional trains during the Championship. Royal Birkdale is served by Liverpool Airport (approximately 32 miles) and Manchester Airport (approximately 43 miles).
