Golf Development Manager Appointed For EnglandsGolfCoast

Partners leading the drive to attract more golf tourists to the region have appointed a Golf Development Manager to join the englandsgolfcoast campaign.

Charlie Grimley joins the campaign team from North West based event management company Tonge International where he previously worked as Project & Development Manager.

A single figure handicap golfer and member of Southport & Ainsdale GC, 30-year old Charlie has also managed other major events including the Charles Church Scottish Seniors Open and English Seniors Open as well as the former Merseyside Festival of Golf and Golf World in the Park. Outside of golf, he also managed the Southport Air Show & Military Display and Kent Air Show.

In his new role, Southport-born Charlie is based at The Mersey Partnership (TMP) the region's designated Tourist Board. TMP manages the englandsgolfcoast campaign on behalf of partners led by the Northwest Regional Development Agency.

The campaign aims to bring more overnight golfing visitors to play the 19 unique venues that comprise englandsgolfcoast spanning Merseyside, Lancashire, Cheshire and Cumbria.

"I'll work closely with our golf partners and the key stakeholders in englandsgolfcoast to create better communications links and instil best practice across the region. Our main objective is to increase the number of overnight golfing visitors to our region, in particular international visitors," he explained.

The latest phase of the englandsgolfcoast campaign aims to build on the existing £10m year economic impact golf has on the North West region's economy.
