The Ricoh Women's British Open is one of the golfing highlights of the sporting calendar. In its 35th year, the Championship returns to the famous links of The Royal Birkdale Golf Club, one of the most historic golfing venues in the UK. The event takes place from Thursday 29th July to Sunday 1st August and the World's best women golfers will once again be there battling it out for this prestigious title.
The Ricoh Women's British Open is one of the most exciting Majors in golf. As the only women's Major played outside the US it is the most international with the 2009 field boasting players from 25 different nations, including every player inside the world's top 30. The field for 2010 will be equally as strong and will include the likes of world number one Lorena Ochoa, Michelle Wie, Paula Creamer, Ai Miyazato, Suzann Pettersen and the UK's own Melissa Reid, Laura Davies and the reigning champion Catriona Matthew.
Along with the superb viewing platforms at The Royal Birkdale Golf Club, spectators will find the perfect opportunity to relax and savour the atmosphere when not out on the course; the Championship Village will host a number of exhibition and retail units, interactive activities, and public catering facilities for the whole family to enjoy.
