What advice would you offer to someone playing the course for the first time?
To invest in a strokesaver as the yardages can be quite deceiving here. The course undulates, and so it's not always easy to judge a yardage without one. Also the views can be quite spectacular, too, so don't get too distracted by those!
Which is your favourite hole on the course?
The 18th (see signature hole in the Course Guide panel above right). It's a fantastic golf hole with undulating fairways from tee to green. Standing on the tee you're looking back down towards the green with the clubhouse in the background, it's completely breathtaking, a wonderful experience. It's a privilege to tee it up here and play that hole.
What's been your best moment on the course?
There have been many, but I'd say that my favourite time to play here is during May and June. The weather conditions are usually perfect for golf then and it's a great time to get out there and enjoy a round.
Who would join you in your fantasy four-ball to play a round at Wallasey?
I'd have to choose my son, along with two of the world's greatest golfers, Ernie Els and Tiger Woods. It would be an honour to play a round in their company, and I'd love to see how they approached playing their way around this course.
