The most demanding of Mere's final four holes, the 16th hole was named by the great Henry Cotton as one of his ideal 18 holes - chosen from all the golf courses he'd played around the world. The left hand dogleg demands a tee shot to the right hand side of the fairway to offer the best line in to a green guarded by bunkers. The green gently slopes towards the lake, so take extra care as putts can often break deceptively towards the mere.
