Formby Hall may have just a decade of history, but it has already hosted some fantastic European Challenge Tour events. In 2000, a nail-biting playoff saw Sweden's Frederik Henge winning an 18th hole spectacular to see off a field of rising stars including England's Justin Rose and Ian Poulter.

Star Anecdote

Legendary Liverpool footballers and single-figure handicappers Alan Hansen and Kenny Dalglish opened Formby Hall in 1996.

"If I'm playing with Kenny or Gary Lineker, I always have some kind of a wager. We don't play for fortunes. It's not really about the money; it's about the winning. I don't get beaten a lot."
