History
Having been transformed from marshland to a picturesque parkland course in 1996, Formby Hall is a relatively new arrival on England's Golf Coast, but its setting and golf test have already made it a venue for the PGA European Challenge Tour in 1999-2001.
Challenge
The course presents a formidable challenge, with the distance from the championship tees an awesome 7,048 yards. The club also features a delightful colonial style clubhouse with an impressive fountain outside and with its views inland to distant hills, great fairways and manicured greens, it has already built a reputation as one of the leading championship golf courses in Europe.
National amateur golf academy
The PGA also has bold plans to create the first national amateur golf academy here, which will include a nine-hole golf course, a two-tier floodlit driving range and an indoor putting green, consisting of real grass. This should ensure that Formby Hall remains one of the top golf complexes in Europe.
