Barnacre Cottages

Winners of several awards including Excellence in England Self-catering Holiday of the Year, Silver Award 2003, England’s Northwest Gold Award 2002 and Lancashire & Blackpool 2004. Set in a renowned Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in a tranquil location with spectacular views across to the coast, Lake District and even the Isle of Man on a clear day. The cottages have achieved the prefect blend of quality accommodation with the creature comforts that make a real difference to a holiday. Care from the resident owners ensures a warm and comfortable stay so the guests can enjoy the fruits of these three prestigious awards. The cottages have been carefully and thoughtfully converted so guests can experience all the creature comforts of home and more. The kitchens are all equipped with a washing machine, tumble dryer, fridge, freezer, microwave, gas hob, electric oven and that all important dishwasher. The interior design provides a finish, which is that little bit special with leather furniture, terracotta tiles, slate and wooden floors and hand painted décor by local artist. For those who seek a relaxing break the countryside offers a host of gentle walks to enjoy the local wildlife from woodpeckers to pheasants and deer roaming the surrounding bluebell woods. Speckled hens are also visitors in the hope of additional treats. For those looking for a base for amore active holiday Barnacre Cottages are perfectly situated to reach the stunning Yorkshire Dales, the beautiful Lake District, Cartmell races, Holker Hall festivals and Lowther House Trials. The historic city of Lancaster is only 9 miles away with its splendid Castle, Priory and maritime Museum, whilst the bright lights of Blackpool are only 25 miles away. For golfers there is Royal Lytham, Royal Birkdale and local golf courses within easy reach. Locally there is the lovely town of Garstang winner of Britain in Bloom, Small Country Town, with its shops, open air Thursday market, welcoming pubs and the famed December Victorian Christmas festival. If all that seems too far the local shop and pub is only a 2 mile stroll away in Scorton, a popular spot for cyclists to enjoy a refreshment stop. All four cottages are 5 stars, the first in Lancashire, are set in 12 acres of fields and bordered by woodland. There is a great range of activities for all ages, tastes and pace. Special short and last minute breaks available. Open 12 months a year, whether peak or off peak. Self Catering Holiday of the Year - Tourism Awards 2007 - Highly Commended
